IPTC Info is replaced with 'Picture Style" which shows no copyright/ownership & metadata embedded on image files.

Has anyone come across this or know how to correct this? Or is there a work-around? The IPTC metadata, and being able to verify that critical info on any image-file, at any time, is a typical part of workflow. Now, even though I know that the metadata is embedded with the file, it no longer appears when using Preview > Tools > Inspector = pop-up window.

This Preview window now shows a category called "Picture Style" which contains nothing of use. There is a TIFF label but TIFF does not use the same, solid metadata (embedded from out-of-camera) to perform with the same international standard as IPTC. TIFF does not show all of the important data standards for images such as Keywords, Instructions, Content Ownership, Creator, Copyright Notice, Rights Usage Terms, etc., .

Months ago, the Preview application still showed the IPTC - and still does on most of my older files - before Catalina & mostly (but not all??) before El Capitan, as well.

My understanding is that IPTC is the standard for photographers, whereas TIFF is a standard for graphic designers and other artists.

Is there anyway to change this behaviour on Mac OS back to show the real IPTC metadata? If not, what is recommended?

Command i is the short cut to open the info pane— both before the image is opened, and another after the image is opened

Use a true image editor for meta data info, to name a few:

Graphic Convertor

GIMP

PhotoShop

Photos.app

Add titles, descriptions, and more to photos using Photos on Mac

Thank-you for the reply. Really appreciate the thought and effort! And know the shortcut, too - just wanted to make sure the information flow was detailed, thoroughly.

This really is an issue for working photographers typically dealing with larger batches of files - when any number of processing apps may be used, including, but not limited to, the full Adobe services (Lightroom, Photoshop, etc., ), after importing the image files and before, in some cases, editing workflow begins.

During a workflow, having to use Lightroom just to check integrity for all of the metadata on a file batch, including and especially IPTC info adds a lot of labour to a process that only took seconds, a few months - or OS versions, ago.

EXIF is completely different - valuable, too ... but not the issue.

IPTC is the International Standard information that is required and while it is embedded in the image-file, still cannot explain how or why it is not shown, now, and is replaced with "Picture Style" (which displays no relative data).

Started researching background for the orgs for IPTC and it appears that Apple may be out of that loop, currently.

Again, I appreciate your response but my original post stands - still hoping for a solution or work-around.
