Fast Charging for iPhone XS Max

Hi,

Purchased a USB-C to Lightning cable to try fast charging on my iPhone with a MacBook Pro 61W adapter. I'm not noticing any difference in charging speeds. I've heard that there's usually a double-ding sound when cable is inserted, but I've only heard the normal one time sound.

Is there another way to know if it's fast charging?

Does fast charging only work with Apple-made cables and not on third-party USB-C Lightning cables?
