Macbook Pro 2011 Wifi Problems

Hi Community,

Last night I factory reset my macbook pro which had a corrupt version of the OS so wouldn’t perform it unless i connected it to the internet and did it that way etc, All went well and it held a stable internet connection throughout. But now since i’ve actually got High Sierra running on it won’t actually use the wifi and just shows it as off when i go into the System preferences and won’t turn on, i don’t think my Wifi Card inside it is faulty because like i said it worked completely fine before this. I have tried a few troubleshooting methods but none seem to work.

If you click on the “Turn Wifi On” nothing happens ..

Please Help! Thanks

If an SMC reset, and no hardware problems are found, it sounds like unfortunately you may have an issue that the diagnostics does not check for. One thing I know about these machines is the WiFi cables can be frayed easily when the hinge is over extended, or easily disconnect from the little knobs connectors. I would have an authorized service technician take a look at it when all is said and done.

Netgear does make USB WiFi dongles you can use in the meantime that aren't that expensive.
