AirPods kept disconnecting and now they won't show up in my phone

Hiya, its my birthday today and i received some AirPods, i first took them out of the box and connected them, about an hour later i was trying to listen to music and they kept disconnecting, so i pressed forget device and tried to set them up again, they then wouldn't connect so i googled and reset the AirPods by holding the back button till it went white, to amber, back to white and now when i open them next to my phone they wont show up at all, what should i do ?
