Sync iMac with MacBook

I am looking purchase a new MacBook and I want to know how I can use it with my (in office) iMac?

I basically what my MacBook to mirror my iMac at all times so when I travel or work from home, everything state the same on both.

Can this be done?

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

It would also be very wise to turn on iCloud on both devices to continue to keep them synced. If you are not familiar with that process please click the following for Apple's instructions:

Cloning to an External Drive & booting from that on both ends.
