Lightning port blocked by clip

I cannot plug in my lightning cord to my iPhone 8.

I have cleaned out the port (not much debris there).

There appears to be the metal clip sticking out on both sides inside the port that is blocking the cord.

Any ideas?

The phone came like this out of the box however it charges normally without problems. I wanted to confirm whether this is by design? The pins which appears to be bent are: Pin 2,3,7. My lightning port broke how do I fix it? Do I have to buy a new phone? I dropped my phone in the sink and now my lightning port won’t charge or work with headphones. Please respond

Yes, sounds like your connector is broken. Click on the Contact Support link at the top right of this screen to start the service process.
