your response to the invitation cannot be sent

For 3 weeks now, I continue to get this "your response to the invitation cannot be sent" on my iPhone. I've tried several things, but none of them work. Please offer a solution.

iPhone XR, iOS 13

The three suggested fixes from the folks at Apple for this Calendar Invitation Your response to the invitation cannot be sent error:

are to...

  1. Force close the Calendar app, and restart it
  2. Reboot the iPhone, and see if that clears this
  3. Restart the Calendar: Settings > Calendar > Accounts, select the problem account (if you know it) > Disable Calendar > Enable Calendar.

Failing those steps (and I'm not sure what you've already tried), use the Contact Support link in the upper right, and contact the folks that work at Apple...

And as I'd prefer your data not be lost, do always have backups of the contents of your iPhone, or any other computer you use.

An IT guy at my office suggested this method. I have tried it and - so far - it seems to have stopped this issue:-

On your device, tap Settings > Passwords & AccountsThen select the account (under the accounts section) Note: Select the account that linked with Calendar (iCloud, Exchange, Gmail etc) Slide to turn off “Calendars”. You will be asked to confirm, it will read “Are you sure you want to continue? All calendars will be removed from your iPhone” Tap the red Delete from my iPhone icon to confirm your selection. Do not worry, we will turn this on later and your calendar will sync again. Now turn off your device (you can do so by going to Settings > General > Shut Down) Turn your device on And turn Calendars back on in the Settings.

same Calendar invite issue. I’ve rebooted, deleted my calendar, signed out, toggled Calendar on and off. Any other ideas?

Here are the usual three;

  1. Force close the Calendar app, and restart it
  2. Reboot the iPhone, and see if that clears this
  3. Restart the Calendar: Settings > Calendar > Accounts, select the problem account (if you know it) > Disable Calendar > Enable Calendar.

It says it cannot respond to a Calendar invite. But I'm not trying to respond to any specific calendar invite. I've actually responded to probably 50 calendar invites over the 3 weeks I've been getting this message. It pops up every time I look at my phone to conduct any type of task. Some times it will pop up 3 or 4 times within a 5 minute time period.

response to calendar invitation cannot be sent

If what you’ve tried did include each of the three steps posted in a previous reply here (scroll up to the Apple-recommended answer), then contact the folks at Apple Support using the link in the upper right of this webpage.

If what you tried did not include each of the three steps listed above, then get a backup of your device, and then try each of those three steps first.
