Mass Fluctuations of Other storage on iPhone/ Disappearing and Reappearing messages

Hi I just wanted to know why my iPhone’s other storage keeps on fluctuating; but it’s not like a little bit - it goes from 5.47GB to 15.49GB. But only for a few seconds and it’s really weird.

See pictures below:

So I then decided to do a hard reset on my phone multiple times- Every time I do it i see a weird white line (Horizontal). Sometimes at the top of my phone, middle and bottom of my phone.

Whilst I was doing this undelivered messages from hundreds/ even thousands of days ago pop up.

I then delete these messages perform a hard rest again and one of two things happen;

  1. The same message reappears again and says it was not delivered when my phone turns on again.
  2. It finds a new undelivered from a long time ago and notifies me about that.

I managed to delete all the undelivered messages.

However there was this one undelivered message in particular that I could not find in my messages and delete.

I had to add the number onto my contacts & message the number to be able to remove it from my phone.

My phone was also getting hot whilst all of this was going and the battery was draining quickly.

Whilst all this was going on my friend messaged me on WhatsApp. I saw it on the notification bar but was still preforming Hard Resets on my phone. The when I went to reply and opened the app the message from my friend disappeared; she did not delete the message and neither did I.

Furthermore earlier on in the day I was clearing out my photos; and I found that it was saying I was permanently deleting approximately 330. But when looking at the description of the recently deleted pictures It stated that. that there where approximately 110 and pictures in that folder.

My phone is updated with the latest IOS.

I have also reset my all my settings.

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

  • Other: Non-removable mobile assets, like Siri voices, fonts, dictionaries, non-removable logs and caches, Spotlight index, and system data, such as Keychain and CloudKit Database. Cached files can't be deleted by the system.
  • System: Space taken by the operating system. This can vary based on your device and model.

About cached files in "Other"

Finder and iTunes categorize cached music, videos, and photos as Other instead of actual songs, videos, or photos. Cached files are created when you stream or view content like music, videos, and photos. When you stream music or video, that content is stored as cached files on your device so you can quickly access it again.

Your device automatically removes cached files and temporary files when your device needs more space.

If storage on your device differs from what you see in Finder or iTunes

Since Finder and iTunes categorize cached files as Other, reported usage for Music or Videos might differ. To view usage on your device, go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage.

If you want to delete the cached files from your device

Your device automatically deletes cached files and temporary files when it needs more space. You don't need to delete them yourself.
