iPod Classic x2 And Synology Server

Hi All, need some help as its driving me crazy.

I have copied my whole iTunes directory onto my Synology drive, mainly so we can run the Sonos. My iPod Classic is linked to the directory and works fine. My wife's iPod Classic is run through an external hard drive and its just not syncing, copying new music from CD - in fact so random not sure what is going on...

Heres the question - can both Classic be linked to the directory on the Synology - don't need all the songs to be on both Classic, just a selection on one?

If so, how do we go about doing this - any help or ideas would be brilliant.

Wife's computer is MacBook Air - mine MacBook Pro

Many thanks

Chris

It shouldn't matter particularly where the media you want to sync is located as long as Finder (since we're in Catalina) can find it. Classic cannot use anything from an Apple Music subscription or that Music shows as being in the cloud. Do the tracks in question play in Music? Personally I had to restore my Windows formatted iPod classic before I was able to get it to work with Catalina.
