How do i set up a Sony FDR AX33 as a webcam on a macbook pro 16inch?

If and when you get this set up, you can switch to that camera directly in the app you're using it with. These steps can vary depending on which apps you're using. For example, if you want to switch cameras in FaceTime you would go to Video in the menubar and choose your Sony camera. However, in Photo Booth you would choose Camera from the menubar.

Per the link provided in our last reply, to use the camera as a webcam you would need certain drivers that aren't actually compatible with macOS. If you were to connect that camera to your Mac it's possible it may work as a webcam with a video adapter like the Elgato Cam Link one you mentioned. The issue isn't with your Mac not having what's necessary to recognize that device as a camera, it's an issue with your camera requiring specific drivers in order for it to be recognized properly on a computer.

Before purchasing a Cam Link adapter, or any other accessories, we highly recommend reaching out to Sony to make sure this setup will work for you. You may also want to consider reaching out to the manufacturer of the adapter you're considering as well.
