Airpods microphone not working and it has static.

For a while now, my airpods 1st gen’s mic has stopped working, and there is static. They are also falling apart, the glue between the case has weakened to where I can put my fingernail between it. I’ve had it for a good 2 years.

I can still hear sound as clearly as before, but on calls etc. people on the other end cannot hear me whatsoever. I've gone through the standard fixes (charge airpods / case, blow off dust / lint, have my iPhone forget my Airpods and then reconnect, etc.) but nothing has been successful. I have 2nd gen Airpods. after 1 year, the mic works intermittently. can this be fixed? How to fix 2nd Gen Airpods when mic stops working? They aren't damaged.
