Airpods Mic Not Working

Hi,

The microphone(s) on my airpods suddenly stopped working in the past few days. I can still hear sound as clearly as before, but on calls etc. people on the other end cannot hear me whatsoever. I've gone through the standard fixes (charge airpods / case, blow off dust / lint, have my iPhone forget my Airpods and then reconnect, etc.) but nothing has been successful. It seems this may be a hardware issue? If so, would it make sense to have the mic replaced or simply buy a new pair of airpods (my current airpods are ~2 years old so assume no warranty coverage).

Hello,

Do the AirPods microphones work in other apps? For example, what about using the AirPods for voice memos?

Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Thanks, they do not - and in fact the microphone in my other set of bluetooth headphones was not working over FaceTime / calls recently as well. I've uninstalled the Tile app and forgotten my Tile device as I believe bluetooth complication from that app / device may be the root issue vs. my headphones based on what I've read from others online. Will come back if does not solve the issue.
