iCloud mail sends but not receiving mail

I have a situation where my iCloud mail is not receiving any sent mail. I was made aware when I received a call earlier from a coworker about why I had not responded to a high priority email. It was working until at least 702 pm last night. I tested by sending mail from my gmail account and also in reverse. The sent mail from iCloud to gmail worked, however the sent mail from gmail was never received at iCloud......

my gmail is for promos and junk, my iCloud is for important and business.

please advise how to correct this

Thank you for your response, and willingness to help. I have figured it out....

I have a bad habit of not updating my OS (I know, I know 😳🤭). I was actually a couple or more behind. I updated and problem solved. A little lesson to stay on top of updates, it’s amazing what staying current can do for ya!
