Mobile games not loading

Two of my favourite games now suddenly refuse to load. They’re from different publishers but they seem to be the only things on my IPad that won’t load. I used them both just fine 2 hours ago and I tried clearing all the open apps running in the background, then I held the on switch for a shutdown, but still no luck. If this were under normal circumstances, I’d be headed to the Apple store in the morning, but of course they’ll all be closed. Any help? And why did this happen right after midnight?
