Some resellers will sell AppleCare along with the product -- I'm not sure about Target. If not, you can buy it within 60 days. See the following from AppleCare Products - Headphones - Apple

- Or buy it within 60 days of your headphones purchase:
- At an Apple Store (inspection of headphones and proof of purchase are required)
