So recently i put a new photo into my photos so i could use it as my profile picture on mac but then when i went to do it, it instead did this and just doesn't change. I've restarted my computer and such but nothing has changed. Anyone got any fixes?

I found the fix myself all you have to do is instead of clicking on it drag a picture from the desktop or finder onto the icon and it allows you to change it

Did you try changing it in your Contacts.app (?)

Yes i did but it does the same thing
