is there a way to install software update to macbook pro without restarting?

my computer doesn't restart properly, it hasn't for a while... it's been like this ever since i got my screen replaced by apple a few years ago which was already kinda a hassle to get fixed cuz i work off this computer and i was without it for a while and it was expensive. if i let my screen sleep it won't turn back on. i have to use the power button to force it off and on when that does happen. i know i need to get it fixed but i don't live anywhere near an apple store or post office...

i just haven't wanted to send it back or say anything, i've just dealt with it. and now we're in quarantine so idek if they/y'all are doing repairs rn? lol it works fine otherwise so i forget it's even a thing; i usually just shut it down when i need to close the computer, i disabled my screensaver ages ago and usually my computer still updates fine, normally automatically.

but the past week i have not been able to get my computer to update. when it restarts it just gets stuck on my broken screen. is there an option to install and shutdown instead or something?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

No.

Please download and run and post the output of EtreCheck here. Open a new reply here and then press the button that looks like a printed page to get a text input box big enough to paste the hardware and software configuration report here.

One cause of problems restarting can be problematic add-on software, add-in anti-malware, add-on anti-cirus, add-on cleaners, that sort of app. The EtreCheck report will show that, as well as other potential issues.
