In that model, Face ID recognition wasn't available. It was introduced starting from iPhone X or later (except the new SE 2020, wich still has fingerprint recognition).

The Face ID technology was introduced with the iPhone X in September 2017.


The iPhone 7 Plus is from September 2016. Your phone is too old to have Face ID.
