Can't connect AirPod to iPhone. Connected successfully to Mac Air. Followed simple instructions: set iPhone with Bluetooth on, connected to WiFi. Put AirPods case next to iPhone. Pushed and held button on back of case (how long do I need to hold?) After 30 seconds or so, put Air Pods in ears. Heard tone.
Not connected.
Seems so simple. What can I possibly be doing wrong?

Try resetting iPhone’s network settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Be certain you do not select Erase All Content and Settings as this will erase all of your information. It is a good idea to perform a backup of your iPhone prior to resetting its settings.
