Can you download from apple music for offline use without syncing your library?

Hello,

I'm on an Apple Music 3 month trial and I would like to download some music for offline use (to my iphone to play while driving) but the app requires me to sync my library to do this. But I do not want my stored music library to be uploaded to iCloud so I don't want to allow syncing. Am I missing something or am I forced to store the 40 GB of my own music in iCloud just to listen to some new music offline?

iPhone 11, iOS 13

Hello richardfromcanmore.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that you want to download music from Apple Music for offline listening. You don’t want to upload music to iCloud. I’m happy to help.

Please use the steps here to download Apple Music: Add and download music from Apple Music or buy music from the iTunes Store - Apple Support If you want to access your music library across multiple devices, then enable Sync Library.

Let me know the results.

Take care.

Hi Brenden,

Thanks for the reply. When I press the "+ADD" button for the music I want to download, as described in the link you shared, the software then prompts me to sync my library. Of course I don't want to do that so I press "not now". I am then returned to the previous screen with no option to download any music. So still having problems.
