audio limiting ipad pro microphone

When I live stream my boys practicing piano, it seems as though a limiter or a compressor is activated on the audio. As they play louder, the sound actually gets softer and muffled. It also sounds worse and worse. The low notes are almost completely eliminated and only spiky high notes make it through. Is there a way to turn off this bug/feature on my iPad? I have an iPad pro, my kid's 2nd gen iPad doesn't do this and it's much easier to control the volume and live stream. The effect is very poorly implemented. When I start to talk after their done playing, it's muffled and then suddenly gets louder.

Eventually, I'm gonna get an interface and use good microphones, but this is a really lousy bug for the iPad pro. Hardly pro if you ask me.
