copying tempo from audio track

Hi

I've downloaded a music stem into Logic Pro. Its a pretty basic 4/4 pop song.

The original hasn't been recorded with click and the tempo varies a bit.

On top of that, I've time stretched it a bit so it is slower than the original track.

I want Logic to analyse the track and provide me with a tempo and bar structure so I can play along with it/cut and paste etc. easily. Is this something Logic can do?

I'd appreciate any pointers

Thanks

Hi,

I assume the "music stem" is an audio file. I think Smart Tempo can do what you want: Match the tempo automatically in Logic Pro X - Apple Support.

Keep in mind that most Tempo operations are between File and Project, not Region and Project.

Hope that helps,
