Trying to export individual layers (groups) over to FCPX

I'm trying to export a group of layers in Motion, then upload it to FCPX, so I can add editing and keyframes.

But I only know how to publish the entire project as a template, which doesn't let me edit any of the individual layers in FCPX.

For example, my groups are two cartoon people. I want to move them over to FCPX and add keyframes, but I can only send over the entire project, which doesn't let me edit the two cartoon people.

Please let me know, thanks

You can publish every parameter you need for each character, and you can create a divider between character parameters.

Find the parameters you want to have access to in FCPX, then right click on them and select Publish from the popup menu.

You can publish them in any order and re-order the parameter list. Select the Project "layer" > Publishing tab and click and drag the parameters to the order you need. You can double click on the labels and rename them.

To create a separator, create a New Rig > New Pop-up. In the Pop-up editor, delete the Snapshot names/labels and rename the Pop-up either in the Layers List, or after publishing, in the Published Parameters [Project] list.

Hi Fox, thanks so much for getting back to me, I thought no one would be able to help :)

I've published all the parameters, and have tried to create a separator (I'm not exactly sure what the separator's purpose is, though).

But I'm still stuck on moving everything over to FCPX.

Another question: is it better to animate keyframes in Motion 5, or to wait and animate them in FCPX? My animations will be extremely simple, no complicated stuff.

I just want to know the best way to export my characters from Motion 5 to FCPX. Maybe the best way is to create the characters in Motion 5, and animate them in FCPX.

Either way, I'm still stuck on moving anything (aside from the ENTIRE project) from Motion 5 to FCPX.

Sorry about the confusion, I've just started learning these programs as a side hobby, and have been learning everything from Youtube videos, which sometimes fall short.

Thanks again,

Colin
