Creating a playlist for Apple TV hardware

Hi,

Is it possible to create a playlist using a TV show or movie purchased via Apple TV (either the TV app on OS X or Apple TV hardware) and have that playback on Apple TV hardware?

When I try to do this, I get an error on the Apple TV hardware saying "This content can't be played on this Apple TV".

I've created a playlist in the TV app that's an episode of a TV show plus a home movie. I've made sure that Media Sharing is turned on. The home movie plays without problem on the Apple TV hardware, so I know that is working correctly. From the Apple TV hardware, I choose the Computers options to see and play the playlist. However, the TV show won't play, displaying the error above.

The reason I want to do this is to surprise someone with a home movie that looks like their favorite TV show. The best way I can think of to do that is to have a playlist that's an episode of the real show, then the fake show.
