2019 MacBook Pro freezes during charging requiring a hard reset

My 15-inch 2019 MacBook Pro freezes often if I'm working and charging simultaneously. First I thought the issue was with the Chrome browser, but this time I was on Safari. It wasn't heavy work either just basic browsing. The device gets hot, fans start spinning, everything freezes and then it just turns off. The Esc key won't work because the Touch Bar becomes inactive.

Problem is this is happening quite often, 3 out of 5 times, and for a device that is $2500+, this is a very bad experience. I have been charging on the right side (some recent users pointed out recently that charging on the left causes problems). I have tried the SMC reset twice but that doesn't seem to help.

Please let me know if you have faced similar problems and how you dealt with it. Thanks!

I would certainly try both your SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

and

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

Verify that no third party apps— that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus these can cause issue like you discribe.

Do a safe boot if necessary to test  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot and test as caches get rebuilt.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

If no resolve I would —

or

call AppleCare Support at 1-800-APLCARE
