Does anyone know what is the max charge capacity for macbook air 2020? The apple agent said it should be 7,150mAh. But the new macbook was showing 4531mAh, so i got it replaced. The replacement is also showing 4530mAh.
Is it a defective product issue for just me or is it common for all? Did anyone check this?

7150 mA would be a very large, high capacity battery for a MacBook Air. Both my 2018 Airs have about 4500 mA capacity. While the CPU is different than mine, the 2020 models are identical size units to mine.
If iFixit is to be believed that battery is rated 49.9 Wh. At the MBA's operating voltage of 11.4 V that comes to 4377 mAh.
ioreg might be using something other than those values, or Apple has a more conservative interpretation of "design capacity." They can't all be correct.
ioreg -l | grep DesignCapacity
... will return that particular battery's maximum design capacity.
I have checked with some of my friends who are having 2014 macbook air and most of them are reporting 5000 - 6000 mAh even after ~300 charge cycles. However, looks like the new ones are showing around ~4000 - ~45000mAh..

It is considered better because the computer is using the battery more efficiently. Please check a site such as ifixit for the values assigned to replacement batteries for all MacBook Air models. You will see that the info posted above is indeed correct.
Well, I have an old MacBook Air (Early 2014) showing 6240mAh as below even after 270+ charge cycles.

Wonder why increase in efficiency has not been provided to user ? instead it appears that apple chose to lower the max battery capacity? My new laptop battery drained faster than the old one for similar app usage.

Well, I can’t comment on your usage, but I can tell you about mine. This week I received my “new to me” refurbished MacBook Air. After completing the setup process I checked the battery capacity (4500 mA, with 4 battery cycles). I then used it as I normally would on battery power for almost 6 hours. While my usage wouldn’t be considered very taxing for the computer, the battery was still at 56% at the end of the 6 hours of usage. This would easily fit within the advertised time for using on battery power.
The question here is why is it showing much lower value when compared to the older models. How is 4000mAh battery considered to be better than the older MBAs having 6000-7000mAh battery?
