Problems updating apple watch series 4

I was in the middle of installing the latest WatchOS update to my Apple Watch Series 4 when the process seemed to get "stuck." My watch is at a point where it wants to pair with my phone like it's new but the watch app on my phone (iPhone 7 running iOS 13.4.1) is not at the same point and is now stuck in a "checking for update" loop. It fails every time and my only options are to try again (again, which consistently fails), or start over, which says it will reset my watch to factory settings. Help!
