2020 MacBook Air with Thunderbolt (USB-C) External Monitor

Hi, I'm considering upgrading my 10 year old monitor with one that connects via Thunderbolt/USB-C. I like the idea of a single cable set-up.

However, I'm worried that this means my MacBook will always be charging. Currently I periodically run on battery to keep it healthy, but that will not be possible with a Thunderbolt monitor as it will be charging whenever I am using the external monitor (which is 95% of the time). Will this degrade the battery? Thanks.

Using your MacBook while plugged in for an extended period of time should not significantly harm the performance and longevity of the battery. When your MacBook's battery is full, the battery stops charging, and your Mac will only draw as much power from the monitor as it needs to run its internals.
