Maps avoiding highways

So, I got the new IPhone SE (2020) and ever since my maps has been defaulting to the route that avoids highways, no matter the conditions. I have used siri for directions and wasted a lot of gas because of this. I have checked and toggled my settings multiple times and it just won’t show me the quickest route if it has highways. My question is what is wrong with it and how do I fix it?
