Terrible microphone quality on Mac with AirPods Pro?

For reference, I have the new MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar and the AirPods Pro with the most recent firmware installed. My AirPods work great with my iPhone and the sound quality on my MacBook with my AirPods is great, however, my microphone does not work whatsoever. Even with the previous firmware I had this issue. The AirPods worked great for a few days, then all the sudden the microphone sounded jumbled and impossible to understand, but only on my MacBook Pro. Even switching to the internal microphone does not fix the issue. How can I fix this? I obviously can't just bring it into the store with everything being closed.

You could try and see if re-set of 'system management controller' may help.

While this may resolve the issue, there could be hardware defect behind the

symptom you've experienced. ~ Instructions for portable Mac use, differ than

those for desktop. You may have to attempt these instructions at least twice.

Sometimes to use Safe mode on startup, by itself, can help make things work.

These instructions ^ are also detailed, to get Mac to start in 'safe' mode.

(A normal re-start will allow Mac to exit this Safe mode.)
