iPad erase

When trying to erase all contents and settings -backup iCloud first comes on and 1 minute remaining lasts for hours. Necessary to continue backup? I did iCloud backup in settings prior not sure what the issue is

My iPad is not backing up. I accidentally wiped out my last one from last year because it’s been 8 months of no backups. What can I do now? It said that this iPad can’t be backed up because no storage. But if I deleted what was in storage wouldn’t I have storage now. I was getting that message even before the wipeout. I need suggestions.

Hello,

It is necessary to complete the backup if you wish for your data to be migrated after the restore.

My problem being I have completed iCloud backup in settings. This occurs when I select erase all contents and settings. If back up is complete per previous statement why won’t it complete at this next step? 1 minute remaining will last for hours
