I think I have a Lemon iMac, issue persists for years
iMac Specs: MacOS Catalina 10.15.4
Mac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017)
3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 555 2 GB
Since
I bought this iMac, it has had an issue with booting up. It would
require me to do a fresh install on macOS and than it would work fine
for a few months and would do it again ( rinse and repeat). But now it
just will not boot in its regular state, only safe mode. And if you were
lucky enough for it to boot, it will just randomly restart saying it
restarted because of a problem. I have done many troubleshooting steps
with no success including:
Diagnostics (everything's fine according to that).
EntreCheck: No major issues
Tried Recovery Mode to reinstall and first aid drives.
Reset
SMC and NVRAM multiple times utilizing s different methods including
singlue user "pmset -a restoredefaults" and "nvram -c" This will
sometimes allow a boot but not before long it will restart.
ANy
Help would be appreciated for a more permanent fix. I currently have a
freshly wiped and reinstalled macOS but I left it on to eat dinner and
it restarted "because of a problem" and now won't boot again.
The notification box that pops up upon a boot from a crash gives me this info which I cannot decipher:
iMac 21.5" 4K, macOS 10.15
