How do I upgrade from Mac OS Tiger

Tiger is over 10 years old: it's highly unlikely that any Mac which runs Tiger can be updated to any of the available modern versions of OSX. Tiger was available both in PPC and Intel versions: a PPC Mac cannot be updated at all. In the case of an Intel Mac it would depend on what model it is.

So to get an answer you need to post the exact details of your Mac. Open Utilities/System Profiler and look for your Mac's description in the form of two numbers separated by a comma and following the name of the Mac.

If you're using the MacBook listed in your profile. the next step is to upgrade to Snow Leopard; unless you have a physical disk for a newer compatible version, all upgrade paths go through it regardless of the computer's maximum OS.

You'll need to buy the update DVDs for 10.6 Snow Leopard. The full retail white disk version, not the grey discs, as those are for specific models of mac they shipped with, and yours would not have shipped with any of them.

You can then update to 10.7.5 Lion through the Mac App Store.
