How do I update from Mac OS Tiger?
MacBook
Tiger is over 10 years old: it's highly unlikely that any Mac which runs Tiger can be updated to any of the available modern versions of OSX. Tiger was available both in PPC and Intel versions: a PPC Mac cannot be updated at all. In the case of an Intel Mac it would depend on what model it is.
So to get an answer you need to post the exact details of your Mac. Open Utilities/System Profiler and look for your Mac's description in the form of two numbers separated by a comma and following the name of the Mac.

If you're using the MacBook listed in your profile. the next step is to upgrade to Snow Leopard; unless you have a physical disk for a newer compatible version, all upgrade paths go through it regardless of the computer's maximum OS.
Roger Wilmut1: A PowerPC G4 or G5 can be upgraded to 10.5.

Thank you Niel. The MacBook is on the intel processor. It’s a 2007 model. How do I find the upgrade if I do not have a snow leopard disc? Currently, many pages in safari do not open, especially the ones that direct to snow leopard upgrades. Can you give me suggestions?
Thank you
You'll need to buy the update DVDs for 10.6 Snow Leopard. The full retail white disk version, not the grey discs, as those are for specific models of mac they shipped with, and yours would not have shipped with any of them.
You can then update to 10.7.5 Lion through the Mac App Store.

What macOS version is it running exactly?
What model of MacBook Air is it?
You can find both peases of information in the "About This Mac" under the Apple Menu.
Based on that information, we can tell you what you can update to, and how you can update.
Hi Roger,
The model identifier is 2.1
serial number is: 4H6511SCWGL
does that help?
Also, thank I’m not sure if this is relevant, but when I go to software update, it states that the computer is up to date.
.
Thank you very much for your input, Roger!
