Bonjour malfunction - Every printer I've ever had connected to iMac

I've had several HP and Canon printers connected to my Macs throughout the years. After about 2 months of working seamlessly, I get a Bonjour malfunction and have to reinstall the printer every time I want to print something. What the **** is a Bonjour malfunction and why does it hate my printers???? How do I fix this? Is there a certain make of printer that works best with Macs? Someone help me... I'm going crazy with this!
