Screen doesn’t turn off during call

Title says it. I have an 11 pro max just upgraded from 7 plus and the screen doesn’t turn off during phone calls just dims all the way down and I cannot find any option in settings like the past.


please help I’m tired of accidentally hanging up!

There is a proximity sensor that blanks the screen in the notch. if it is partially covered by a case or screen protector it won’t work. If you are sure that is not the issue (try without the case) then your phone is defective; use the Contact Support link at the top of this page to arrange for a repair.

Force Restart the phone:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF)


See if the above helps. Test the issue again after Force ReStart is done.
