My Imac will not recognise mail it says: Mail Library cannot be read because its format requires a newer version of macOS.
Upgrade your Mac to a newer version of macOS to use Mail.
But it is the newest macOS 10.15.1

once downloaded double-click to install.
Catalina is at 10.15.4 at the moment.
Why not update it?
Run this command in the Terminal then reopen System Preferences > Software Update.
sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored
