Camera not working on Macbook Pro 2017 when using Facetime, Photobooth etc

Hi,

This seems to have been raised before but the discussion has now been closed. Whenever I try to use my camera, the green light appear for a few seconds, all I see is a black screen, then the green light goes out. Facetime then tells me that it "has not received any video from the connected camera". I seem to have tried everything that may have had a remote chance of fixing the issue:

• Restarting the computer
• SMC and PRAM resets
• Used KillaAll in the terminal to close all other applications
• Checking that the camera hardware appears in the System Information list, which it does
• A completely fresh installation of OS X Catalina
• Opened my mac in SafeMode
• Used recovery mode to apply First Aid to the disc
• Held the "D" key on start up to run a diagnostics test which was fine
• I've ran numerous other suggested Terminal commands to change the permissions
• Applied all sharing and permissions settings to all enclosed content of "users"

I find it strange that in "security and privacy" the camera entry has no apps listed as "apps that have requested access to your camera". Could this be the problem? There is no way to add them on this page either.

I then spoke to apple support and exhausted their suggestions. They think it is a hardware issue but they want £470 to repair it! I used it 3-4 months ago without issue and the mac is in perfect condition so I really don't see why it would suddenly break....
