Thanks. But it’s nothing to do with iPhone. It’s an old iPad funnily enough I’ve to unlock using my password ! But won’t let me past an activation screen. .. which won’t activate. (I mean it is registered to me and I can see the device is my list of devices !).

can’t locate the device for some reason .. so can’t erase it as well. Seems to be struck in a loop.

The document describes iPhone, but is also applicable to iPad.

As you have an iPad2, you’ll likely have bigger issues - even if you ever resolve this problem.

Apple formally ended update support for iPad2 in September 2016 - and cannot be updated beyond iOS 9.3.5 (WiFi Only models) or iOS 9.3.6 (WiFi & Cellular); it cannot be updated to iOS 10 or later versions, as the internal hardware does not meet the minimum technical requirements for new versions of iOS/iPadOS.

Many App Developers have also dropped support for older devices and iOS versions preceding iOS11/12 - and have withdrawn older versions of their Apps from the Apple App Store. After the compatible App versions are withdrawn, you can’t download or install the again - and a device restore process deletes all installed Apps.

Given the lack of compatible Apps for old iPad models, the usefulness and utility of your old iPad is now highly limited.

If Apps that you need to use now have higher minimum iOS-version requirements, your only option is to replace your iPad with newer model.

If you get this old iPad working without having to do a complete reset,

Here is a list of compatible iOS 9, third party Web browsers to use that are more “up to date” than that nearly 4-year old, default, iOS Safari Web browser to using on the Intenet.

Here are a few third party web browsers that I know are STILL being updated and supported on iOS 9.

Available and more popular third party Web browser choices are dwindling faster, now.

There are still a handful of iOS 9 and earlier supported third party Web browsers.

Most of these have had recent updates, too!

Here’s what’s left.

iCab Mobile Web browser

Aloha Web browser

ALook Web browwer

Dolphin Web browser

DuckDuckGo Private Web browser

Snow Bunny Web browser

Maxthon Web browser

Private Browsing Web browser by Savvy Soda

Private Browser Deluxe

TOR browser anonymous

Turbo VPN browser

TOR + VPN web browser private

Pick one or two of these that have had the most recent of updates for better and more secure Web browsing.

Good Luck to You!
