looking for help with apparent iphone hacker attemps with a constant pop up for apple watch update. I dont have an apple watch anymore. took the watch off of my list of devices and still get the update apple watch pop up every few minutes when on saf
Im getting a pop up notification to update my apple watch, on my iPhone X every few minutes and every few seconds sometimes, when I'm on the internet using safari. I DO NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE APPLE WATCH. I did own one and it broke. When this started I removed the Watch from my apple list of devices.
I do not believe this is an apple notification. My system Preferences shows all updates are up to date. I do believe this is malicious software trying to get me to accidentily click it while I am touching the screen to interact with the web page I am looking at.
A few years ago I had a similar experience and I fell for it thinking it was Apple notifying me I had an update needed. The second I hit the update button my phone froze, and another window popped open to tell me I had to call an 800 number to fix it. I called the 800 number and they said they were apple and wanted me to pay 50.00 to fix the problem. I went on to apple support community where I found a quick fix by powering it off and restarting then going into settings, general, and doing something with the security preferences. But I can't remember exactly what it was. It fixed the phone instantly.
This fix was for after I granted them access by clicking update. Is there any other way to stop this pop up malicious software from doing this.
Im sure its a trick to get me to allow them to download a hack type of program onto my phone.
its been happening for about. week now. HELP?
thanks !
