I can only enable "Hey Siri" on headphones.

Hi,

I own an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) with the newest macOS Catalina installed (10.15.4).

I would like Siri to listen for "Hey Siri" through the internal microphone. Unfortunately, I can only enable "Listen for Hey Siri on headphones".

When I looked this up online, I found that other people have a different option under System Preferences > Siri.

Some people suggested to check if my internal microphone is working but I'm certain that it does, video proof below.

What should I do?

Good afternoon Jan_Ilowski,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are not able to set up "Hey Siri" on your Mac using the internal microphone. Try these steps to refresh the settings on your Mac:

  1. If you have any wired headphones connected to your Mac, disconnect them.
  2. If you have any Bluetooth headphones paired to your Mac, unpair them.
  3. Toggle Bluetooth off, toggle "Enable Ask Siri" off and restart your computer to refresh it.
  4. Enable Bluetooth and toggle "Enable Ask Siri" back on, and then test.

If Siri or "Hey Siri" isn't working

Please reply to this thread if the issue persists after trying the steps above, and I'll do my best to help you with this!

Take care.

I can only enable "Hey Siri" on headphones.
