Spyware on my iPhone?

I receive an email from a person saying that while I visited a web site previously, a spyware was activated in my phone. Now this person claims that she knows my password which she shares with me. However, this password is not the latest.

She says she knows my entire Facebook contact list, my mobile phone contact list and all my digital activities on my phone for the past 154 days. She claims that she has accessed to a video footage of me as they have triggered my camera. She wants me to purchase $2000 bitcoins and sent to a address.

Is it possible to install a spyware on my iPhone? Is what she claims true? Thank you.

Hi, thanks for sharing your concern.

From what I have read from your description, I would assume this is a scam. Spyware can only be on your phone if you downloaded a sketchy app on your iOS device. The security on an iOS device is quite good, it is quite hard to get remote access. If you are quite paranoid, you can do a complete reset of your iOS device.

Please use this article on help to reset your iOS device: https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/erase-all-content-and-settings-iph7a2a9399b/13.0/ios/13.0

Please do not send any money, most likely what this person is claiming is false.
