I see an external disk (SD card, "N DRIVE") on a list of devices to exclude in Time Machine but I did not set it, nor can I remove it from the list as I'll want to include it in my backups. What is happening and how should I troubleshoot. Pls refer to screenshot.

You can only back up HFS+ or APFS drives. Unless you changed the format of the SD card, it is not in one of those formats.

It's exFat, so I guess it can't be done? Oddly I thought TM did used to archive that disk before I upgrade to Mojave.

I don't think Time Machine has ever been able to back up non-Apple formatted drives. But, I really can't remember for certain.
Including external disk to Time Machine backups but it's greyed out
