When I try to reset my password on my iPhone it keeps telling me that , cannot verify identity. Your session has timed out

This may not be your problem, but two days ago I saw a post indicating that, per an Apple tech, Apple is conducting major maintenance and that many services are down. The instruction given was to "try again tomorrow ... [and] maybe the [needed] server will be back online.

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.

Try a restart.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch         

Try a forced restart.

Reset Device.      

If necessary

Hard reset.        

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

Restore to Factory setting.      

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.
