error when trying to copy files to external hard drive

hi All,

hope someone can help. I am trying to free up some space on my Mac, as it is almost full I get the message all the time. I try to transfer pictures, movies etc approximately 60 G to my external Mac compatible WD drive and as it starts soon I get a message "operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062). "

I tried the files by folders nit in 60 G bulk but I still get the same message.

these are pictures that I don't just want to delete, but I can't transfer them, and my Mac is full, so slowly things don't operate on it.

please help what can be the issue?

thanks in advance

Greetings noratee,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're unable to transfer files from your Mac to your external drive.

Since you mentioned the drive is formatted correctly (File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support), I suggest ensuring you have permissions set correctly, and testing the behavior after using First Aid on the external drive:

If the issue persists, I suggest isolating the issue by testing with a different external drive.

Kind regards.
