text message forwarding

In my iPhone SE (2020) settings for Text Message Forwarding, my iMac appears *twice* in the list of devices to forward. As a result, messages are not being forward to my iMac. I've tried enabling both iMac instances, then one, then the other, but it still doesn't work. How do I remove that duplicate iMac in my Text Message Forwarding settings?

I have turned on text message forwarding and it still doesn't work on my mac When I try to send a message to someone that I am currently texting on my iPhone I am getting the "not registered with iMessage" message. I have followed the instructions on the Apple Support page for turning on text message forwarding (which, as I can see from my history I have messaged with this person from my mac in the past). It still doesn't work. I noticed after the last updates that I stopped seeing my iMessages and SMS/MMS texts that I was sending from my phone on my desktop. This is a bit of a pain as I like to send the longer texts or attachments from my desktop. Can't seem to get this to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

my laptop is not one of the options that i can turn on in text message forwarding. how can I add it I want to have my messages from my iPhone forwarded to my MacBook Air. my MacBook air is not one of the options listed on my iPhone in settings under the message forwarding . can it be added If so, how can i add it as an option

Check Settings > [your Apple ID]. Scroll down and inspect your devices. Is your iMac there twice? Carefully inspect both to be certain they’re identical. If so, remove one. If not, remove the correct one.
