cannot log into iphone to erase

Trying to erase my iphone 7. My password is being accepted on here - but - NOT on my iphone! Therefore - I cannot erase the phone. ANy ideas why?

The Iphone hadn't done a backup in months and I have a ton of critical data on the phone for my job that could potentially cost me my job if I can't get it back. Talked to apple support and the only option they can offer is wiping and starting from scratch. Seems to me if the update caused my passcode to change there should be more support from apple to rectify the issue. Any suggestions or third party apps available to recover data would be much appreciated.

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.

Try a restart.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Try a forced restart.

If necessary

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

Restore to Factory setting.

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.

And are you sure you have entered the password that is associated with the Apple ID shown on your phone? If you can't do so, then you have a significant problem and probably will be unable to use the phone. Post back if you need more help.
