iphone forgotten bluetooth device returns

On my iPhone 7 with iOS 13.4.1, when I try to remove from bluetooth setting old apple devices (old airpods, powerbeats, etc) they keep coming back. For example I used to have a pair of Airpods (now have Pro so don't have old ones). When I go to Bluetooth, select the "i" next to the Airpods, select "Forget This Device", select "Forget Device" it gets removed from list. But know I exit bluetooth settings and go back in the device is listed again. How to I get rid of it permanently?

I use a Lightning - Jack cable to connect my headphones (old school jack ones). And the lightning - jack needs to be connected to Bluetooth in order to work. How can o find it again?
