I think that what you are after is something like this: you have a clip with a blue screen; how do you select the background color?
For example, suppose you have this Kermit the Frog:
And you may be thinking that FCP X will key out the green frog.
Well, I have two things for you:
1) FCP X is actually very clever and will key out the blue background.
2) In the cases that FCP X keys out the wrong colour, it is very easy to handle it:
2a) Drag the "Strength" slider all the way down to zero
2b) Click the Sample Color swatch and er... sample the background color from the image in the viewer

The Keyer will key any color. Green and blue are best. Use the Luna Keyer for black. Back is very difficult to do, and is not recommended at all. There is always black or deep shadow area in most foreground subjects.
You have a green screen and you want to change it to a blue screen? You need to use a color correction tool. Apply the correction; I used the Color Board but you can use whatever you prefer. Add a color mask at the top of the correction. At the bottom switch the mask to HSL and use the color picker. Once you have the matte the way you want it change the color with the color controls. Something like this.
After the color correction, make the clip into a compound and apply the Keyer to the compound.
Tyvm _ How about a darker blue? How do I actually switch the KEY COLOR? I’ve been playing with it but I don’t seem to be able to change the background, just the foreground thanks again Uj
