I re-indexed spotlight, did the shift option opening mail, deleted library indexes. Tried everything I could find online. At a loss. I cannot search my mail. Any ideas?

Oddly I moved the v2 and v6 folders out of the maildata folder. Quit mail added them back in. Launched and search worked again. Bizarre.
It got my speed back. Was a snail prior to it. My last backup is on feb. so I would have to backup mail. Is it just the maildata Folder?
I imagine that was a surprise to you. Here you thought it was going to help you "clean" your Mac, but all it did was cause it to malfunction.
Restore from your backup.
