MacBook freezing

My MacBook keeps freezing, particularly if I’m using Microsoft word. My mouse completely disappears, no buttons on the keyboard work, and the only thing I can do is to force the computer to shut down. Please help!

Furious...Brand New MacBook Air Freezing Issue I just received a new MacBook Air to replace a different new MacBook Air. I am experiencing the same issues. It freezes up constantly. I cannot type for more than 60 seconds without it freezing up (in Pages or online). It just shut down unexpectedly and I lost a ton of work. All software updates are installed. Any ideas? I cannot continue to lose work like this. It has taken me about 4 minutes to type this out because it keeps freezing up. The nearest store is more than 2 hours away so I can't just pop in.
